A bona fide rock classic, Bayou Country (released in January 1969) broke CCR wide open nationally and worldwide, containing the group's first big hits, "Proud Mary" and "Born On The Bayou". These two tracks, along with "Bootleg," "Graveyard Train" and "Keep On Chooglin'," were pure CCR- gritty vocals, tight leads and infectious rhythm. John Fogerty's lyrics evoke a Mississippi and bayou folk legend, a world of voodo fortune tellers, hoodoos and hound dogs and, together with his raspy-voiced delivery, prompted a wide speculation that the El Cerrito, California band was of southern origin. Before the year was out, 35 artists had cut cover versions of "Proud Mary" while the Bayou Country album itself seemed unkillable, remaining on the Billboard charts for 87 weeks and becoming CCR's first platinum LP.

Excellent pressing and re-issue. CCR at its best. I have played it several times and it always sounds fresh. Born on the Bayou is one of my favorite songs of all time. I can kick myself for not buying this album way back then.

I can't say enough about the guys at Analogue Productions.The mix on this LP is perfect! I have an original release copy of this album and I can tell you that even in near perfect condition (It has only been played twice, once to record and once to compare with the re-issue.) There is no comparison! Get this LP, even if you have an original. I just ordered their first album and intend to get all of them!!!

I can't tell you how happy I am with my copy of Bayou Country. The mastering and pressing quality are incredibly good. "It's like listening to the master tape".

The pressing, as others in this series is great, superb sound, but in my oppinion this is not the greatest CCR record in terms of the music.
