Few albums, especially of this epic proportion, rival this magnificent production first released in 1974. In an era of over-indulgent double LP efforts and "rock operas," Lamb was inspired by a trip to New York City by the band, resulting in the writing and production of what is considered not only the high point of the "Gabriel era" of Genesis but also in one of the greatest rock albums ever. Featuring extended passages showcasing the multi-instrumental talents of the band plus the prolific and expressive if sometimes weird and disturbing lyrics by Gabriel, it tells the saga of a NYC graffiti artist named Rael and his ultimate transformation. The album would be Gabriel's swan song as a member and help launch a still on-going solo career. Featuring the original 2-LP artwork.

There are times (few in a lifetime) when differences among artists that work as a group lead to a unique and brief peak of intense artistry before the inevitable rupture. This is one of these rare moments. Then end of Genesis as it was originally conceived with Peter Gabriel leading it. All the 5 musicians at the top of their capabilities and all of them too big individually to stay as a just a fifth part of a whole. That's an album of genius and as it happens with all genius work it's extreme and uncompromising. What could they do after this anyway? Where could they go from there? It's a dead end brilliant work.
