1977 pop classic remastered

Numbered, limited edition double LP cut at 45 RPM on 180-gram vinyl

Ranked 67 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time

Joel’s breakthrough record loaded with smash hits: “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song),” “Just the Way You Are,” “Only the Good Die Young,” “She’s Always a Woman”

Billy Joel entered 1977 with a great track record but in need of a breakthrough. Pairing with producer Phil Ramone (Carly Simon, Simon & Garfunkel), who developed the requisite ingredients missing from Joel’s formula, the singer-songwriter became a household name and chart-topping success courtesy of his fifth studio album, The Stranger

Ramone's mastery of the recording studio provided a sublime sonic context for Joel's timeless songs and classic performances. The Stranger went on to became one of the top-selling albums of that year, peaking at No. 2 on the charts. It went on to be certified 10-times platinum in sales: a pop-rock benchmark.

The Stranger won two Grammys for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Just The Way You Are," was nominated for Album of the Year, and generated four indelible singles: "Just The Way You Are," "Only The Good Die Young," "She's Always A Woman," and "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)," which have all gone on to become absolute classics.

I Like this MoFi version of this a lot. It's the best I've heard this music represented.

Sounds as good as expected on my system

I'm listening to this right now and on my system it sounds as sweet as I expected that it would. I close my eyes and it feels like I"m right there in the studio. As always the RTI pressed vinyl is very, very, very good. The MoFi remaster is also very good, while it's not my best sounding vinyl it's pretty darn close and holds up very well against any of my ORG, Analog Productions as well as other MoFi albums I have in my collection. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Strange Thing.

Waited till my Dynavector 20X2 got broken in and listened to this reissue once more and I gotta say, nothing special here. Mofi failed to deliver all goods on this record.

And that is truly strange given how long they've had to do this project. The record barely has a pulse.
