180-gram vinyl. Original packaging that includes a black plastic outer wrapping with Pink Floyd sticker insignia. Postcard plus free mp3 album download and exclusive poster.

Released in tandem with EMI's huge Why Pink Floyd...? campaign that includes remastered CDs, an SACD, Blu-Ray DVDs, memorabilia box sets and more from their legendary catalog.

Remastered by James Guthrie with artwork by Storm Thorgerson.

This special vinyl reissue of Wish You Were Here commemorates the 35th anniversary of this monumental title. Wish You Were Here topped the album charts in both the U.K. and the U.S. Reflecting the band's thoughts of the time on the music business and exploring themes of absence, Wish You Were Here contains the classic cut "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," a tribute to founding band member Syd Barrett, who showed up at the recording sessions for this record unannounced, not having been seen by the band in years. That was to be the last time any of the band members would see Barrett.

This release is part of a larger Why Pink Floyd...? campaign by EMI. The releases are designed to appeal to a wide cross section of their fans, with music to excite first time listeners, while super-deluxe box sets will cater to dedicated fans, allowing them to immerse themselves in multi-disc sets, containing alternate takes, unreleased tracks, restored live concert screen films and a live recording of the legendary The Dark Side Of The Moon performance at Wembley in 1974.

A series of different listening experiences have been specially created for this release: in addition to remastered CDs called Discovery and the Immersion CD/DVD/Blu-Ray/memorabilia box sets will be a series of Experience Editions - coupling one classic album with a further disc of related content from that album to offer a deeper listening experience.

Storm Thorgerson, the band's longtime Art Director, has overseen the visual design, including new booklets for all the CDs, new artwork for the box sets and menus for the DV content. Respected photographer Jill Furmanovsky has edited books of original unseen photographs. Pink Floyd collaborators James Guthrie (in the U.S.) and Andy Jackson (in the U.K.) have been in charge of digital remastering to the highest audio and audiovisual standards.

Decent Reissue! Not earth shattering!

Don't know what all the fuss is about. Sounds almost as good, (just a little quieter) as the original CBS/Columbia version from '75. There are some passages that do have a certain "deadness" to them, I will acknowledge that; but overall it's well done. Nicer packaging, super quiet, and cool collectible poster included! Sonics could be better though;(Anyone who doubts this listen to the SACD version). Even better, buy a copy of Columbia's Halfspeed Mastered Audiophile Vinyl Edition, (released in the early 80's).

Yeah, it's not being imagined that this record doesn't LEAP out at you to the degree as the original pressing did, but it has enough sparkle to pass. I always say, reissues don't always necessarily insure a "better" sound quality, just a "revamped" one, (but we all love them anyway)! I mean it's all subjective; Besides, sometimes they just get it right the first time...Period!

Overall, I give it 3 1/2 Stars. Worth having for any fan.

Enjoy the music!

Some people are giving "tips" to the sound engineer?? Seriously, get down from the horse people. You think James Guthrie is a moron, and that the band itself doesn't aprove the masters? You got to be kidding.

This records is amazing even in cassete.

Great package & pressing, why so dead?

I was really looking forward to this release, having been making due with my very worn original from the late 70's. Sadly, it is disappointing. I don't know what went wrong, but it's oddly boring to listen to. I thought maybe I was being too critical, but I compared it to my original and yes the new one just sounds dead. The packaging is great, and the vinyl is super clean and quiet. But if you are like me and look forward to a quiet evening a couple of times a year to sit and listen through this album, you might also be left wondering why you're not "getting into it". It's still a good album - how can it not be - just a bummer that it wound up kind of blah.

Man I sure wish I could get a copy of Meddle to sound as quiet as this! Then I could die a happy man!

Superb re-release of this. I can only imagine what a half speed master might sound like!

I have to agree with the negative reviews posted for mastering. I know this recording like the back of my hand from about 1980 on and have owned multiple copies. On this one, They rolled off the highs and the recording is fat, bloated and boring. It's gotta be compression and bad mixing. The vinyl is dead quiet though. The original british 1980s release cd ripped on my streamer smokes this recording in comparison to my deck. My system is pricy scottish gear and I can say the deck generally burries the ds... Not today! What a disappointment, they should have left well enough alone. No more of my cash to theses releases, forget it.

I was really looking forward to this. The mix isn't alive enough though. I don't think this was re-mixed for Vinyl correctly. Something's up. You win some you lose some I guess. Don't buy Vinyl, maybe the SCAD is where all the attention went. It's not here unfortunately.

Packaging is nice.

it is pink floyd...what is better than that. amen...

Give the engineer some Qtips

This is a nicely packaged LP that deserved to have more time spent on mixing and mastering. I can only assume that the engineer had a cold, or was so high while working with this masterpiece of recorded history that he forgot about dynamic range. This LP sounds clean but lacks the punch and dynamic range that you would expect from this special recording.... Listen to the recent MFSL of the B52's self titled LP and you get the treat of what a remastering project should sound like. Like a captured moment. Too Bad PF deserves better. SACD here I come...

What a dissapointment. After waiting this many years for a repress of this iconic album to put it on the turntable and hear it sound this boring is a crime. I will be cancelling my order for the wall.
