I've generally been very happy with Sony's Hendrix Legacy RE, RM vinyl but there's something about this particular album that just doesn't work for me. Maybe it's the selection of songs, or the cuts that were used, or the mastering, or all of the above, but this album just has an empty almost hollow sound to it. Dynamics are not as good as previous Sony's and there's also more distortion. I have Electric Ladyland, Axis Bold as Love, Are You Experienced and Cry of Love and they all best this album by a mile. My advice is pass on this one.

I am a Hendrix collector. I have tons of stuff, there is great stuff here you have never heard, in fidelity that will make you smile. Hendrix light touch and style will never be seen again. A unique genious.

Should have stayed in the vault

This is the guy that did Purple Haze, Wind Cries!! This is another attempt at making money off the name. While the pressing is very good and sound quality is good. The songs were as Jimi left them, work in progress. While his talent shows through on Fire and Neptune etc, many others are hacks and something I doubt Jimi being the perfectionist that he is would have released. Just mho.

Amazing that it was held back this long.

Subject: Valleys of Neptune Cast The Jimi Hendrix Experience (with Noel Redding (departs and replaced) and Mitch Mitchell) released March 2010 Format: Vinyl LP Initial Reaction: it is amazing to me that something this great could have been kept in abeyance this long. I think it is excellent considering the rarity of excellent Hendrix Experience. Sound: the quality of the sound is excellent all things considered. The performance is excellent as well. Several of the songs are alternative takes of the previously released e.g. Stone Free, Hear My Train a Comin, Sunshine of Your Love, Fire and Red House. However these takes are excellent. Studio takes that are released are usually a little tight. Many of the the Best Albums are live e.g Allman Bros Fillmore, Stone’s Ya’s Ya’s. this album has more of a live or jam feeling to it than most of his studio releases; however it does not wander ; stays pretty focused. I like it very much and recommend it very highly.

Amazing pressing!!!

Wow. One of the most quiet LP's I have had the pleasure of owning. If you love Hendrix, get it NOW. What a deal for $25!

The different, stripped down versions of classics you know and love. And a very cool Cream cover as well.
