The Incident
- like the elaborate and conceptual previous record Fear Of A Blank Planet - takes the listener on a thrilling audio journey, in turns haunting, desolate, hypnotic and euphoric, its centerpiece is the title track - a stunning 55-minute musical statement that breaks down into 14 separate and often diverse (through interlinked) vignettes. The Incident is not the kind of album that will be fully absorbed in a single sitting - repeated listening will reveal hidden detail. Pushed for a sufficient description singer/guitarist/songwriter Steven Wilson calls The Incident "a slightly surreal song cycle about beginnings and endings and the sense that 'after this, things will never be the same again.'"

Not Bad, Not Bad At All

Although not the Tree's best (IMHO), surely a masterful work. The progressive edge is right where it should be. I am slightly disappointed by the short acoustic interludes that do not get a chance to develop into true "songs" (similar to the short acoustic tunes a'la Aqulaung, but unfortunately they fall short). The production is breathtaking, as in all PT's albums. With all that being said, if you like the Tree...Buy IT!!!! If you are new to the band get Inabsentia, Darkwing and Fear of a Blank Planet first. You will not be dissappointed owning any one of them...and I am sure you will eventually own all. Enjoy!
