One of the Undisputed Finest Recordings in the History of Classical Music Now Sounds Better Than Ever! Simply Put, The Power Of The Orchestra Will Blow You Away!

A recording this bold, this bombastic with totally jaw-dropping dynamics just begged to be cut at 45 RPM. Oh, it was awesome at 33 1/3 - no question. But wait 'till you hear it now. UN-FREAKIN'-BELIEVABLE!!

Mastered by George Marino.

"The original The Power of the Orchestra has been on many 'best recording' lists, and the discontinued Chesky reissue, with Leibowitz and the Royal Phil, made it on HP's Super Disc list. Yeah, this is one of the best RCA Living Stereo DECCA recordings at Kingsway Hall by Kenneth Wilkinson and pristine original copies cost a mint. This is really accessible, power classical music." - Jim Hannon, AVguide.com

Recorded at Kingsway Hall and engineered by Kenneth Wilkinson, this record couples Moussorgsky's Pictures At An Exhibition with Night On Bare Mountain. It has long been considered among the greatest sounding records ever made. Perhaps most stunning about Power of the Orchestra are the effortless dynamics, which have been reviewed and raved about ever since the first RCA shaded dog. From the teeny, tiny, itsy, bitsy gentle plucks of strings to the WHAM!! CRASH!! SLAM!! of a full orchestra without a bit of notice. It's heart-stopping, jump-out-of-your-seat-type dynamics. The Power of the Orchestra - a more appropriate title there never was. But to hear it at 45 RPM...Oh! My! God! This thing's got all the weight of an anchor but at the same time the clarity and airiness and sparkle of a feather. Nuance, a holographic soundstage, emotion to spare - this one's got it all. A true reference. Power, indeed.

Originally recorded in 1962.

Hey wake up! If you are seeking the finest sounding RCA Living Stereo recordings done by Decca in London on LP look no further. This 2 LP set cut at 45RPM set is highly recommended and will compare favorably with the Chesky LP version which has super disk sound in my opinion. The sound of the Chesky is so good that it is legendary.

Saying that the new Acoustic Sounds 45 RPM re-issue opens new doors as far detail and ambience. Hall sounds of just the field snares alone bring this new LP pressing to a new level of sonics.

The LP is very transparent and the “Pictures at an Exhibition” and a “Night on Bald Mountain” is at its best.

The first Acoustic Sounds re-issue that I got was really noisy on side two. There are apparently better pressings as the replacement copy that Acoustic Sounds sent me plays as close to noise free as I could hope. Recommended along with the Chesky vinyl if you want to hear the difference in the sound.

Anyone have a VICTROLA ORIGINAL?

The Chesky version of this title that I have is already quite good. But this 45 rpm is out of this world. Greater dynamic, more transparent, and more details. What more can I say. It is a must buy.

The "Power of The Orchestra" 45rpm absolutely creams the Chesky and the original RCA. Now the Chesky and original sound dull and veiled.

This Super Disc record should be in everyones collection and not missed. My record was dead quiet.

This album is the rare combination of a great performance and great sonics. The dynamics are superb (listen for the bass drum at the beginning of "Gnomes")along with great imaging and dimensionality. Worth every penny!!!

These 45 lps produce excellent sonics.

"In your face dynamic articulations from the orchestra."

Bass is strong. Oboe sounds are fluid. Silence is perfect before a storm of Instruments.
