Doesn't Get Much Better (All the Time)

I cannot believe how much better the sound quality is over the original CD releases back in the late 1980's. The one selection that sticks out for me is Norwegian Wood. The original sounds so "muddy" compared the the new release. Every instrument is clear, concise, clean, and can be easily distinguished and identified. This is one of the best investments I've ever made as far as sound reproduction is concerned. By the way. Pre-ordering on Acoustic Sounds gave me the best price. It even beat Amazon at the time!

worth the wait, but could have been much better

In reviewing this box set I have to grade it in separate catagories. Packaging and liner notes:5 stars. I found the liner notes most informative and the photos nicely documented. The remastered music: 5 stars. I know that everybody has different expectations, but the new cds have a very laid back and consistent sound. Some songs grab you instantly and some may take time. I have personally picked up a lot by listening through my headphones. Some of the albums are amazing, in particular the early ones. I look forward to the Mono box set for even more satisfaction. Value for the dollar:1 star. With the exception of the White Album they could have easily put the mono versions onto the stereo cds and saved everyone the 240$ the mono box set is costing. Cutting edge:1 star. They could have used SACD for CD stereo-mono and then SACD stereo/multichannel. They might have just added a DVDa disc as a bonus with 5.1 DTS{beatles Love eg.}[Genesis remasters have BOTH SACD&DVDA]In the end, enjoy!!

So so

Some improvements here but not enough to warrant this purchase. I was mostly disappointed. Digital remastering gains some dynamic range but looses some imaging and adds some harshness on some tracks. Some of the tracks I thought "wow" like "Julia" but others like "Yer Blues"...what the hell were they thinking? There's a loss of stage depth overall and the imaging is just wrong on some tracks. The CDs are darn hard to get out of the cases and you end up put your fingers on the disc to pry them out. Cheap CD holders and the packing overall makes it hard to access discs. Save your money...buy one title and see what you think before shelling out the big bucks for the box..."Were're Only In It For The Money", Frank...for sure, for sure.
