Probably the best preamp under $500

I bought this after scouring for reviews online and reading universal praise, not only for this item, but all of DB Systems products.

This phono preamp is definitely not a showpiece, and is housed in an unpretentious simple box that has a sort of "prototype" appearance. It's no frills- no nonsense, but what really matters is what it can do.

What this preamp can do is kill giants. Noise floor is super low, and I hate to say it, but it blows away my slightly more expensive Parasound Z Phono. It produces warm, accurate, balanced sound in my relatively inexpensive system (ProJect Debut Carbon and Epos Epic 2 speakers). Also made in the U.S.A by the same guy who engineered it.
