Pearl Jam announces the reissue of the band's debut album, Ten, as a super deluxe box set. Album extras include: A remaster of the original Ten album on CD and LP plus a remix by producer Brendan O'Brien on CD and LP; A DVD of a previously unreleased 1992 Pearl Jam MTV Unplugged performance with 5.1 surround sound audio remix; A two-LP version of the band's 1992 "Drop In The Park" concert; A replica of Pearl Jam three-song demo cassette with Eddie Vedder's original vocal dubs; A recreation of Eddie Vedder composition notebook; Never-before-seen memorabilia; Bonus tracks and more.

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament, who served as the art director for the original Ten packaging, reprised his role for the reissues collaborating with designer Andy Fischer of Cameron Crowe's Vinyl Films (Into The Wild soundtrack LP, Vanilla Sky soundtrack LP, Harold and Maude anniversary edition soundtrack LP). "The goal was to assemble the ultimate fan-piece," explains Fischer. "Something Pearl Jam lovers could pore over as they experience an indelible record all over again, in an entirely new way."

Great stuff for the Pearl Jam fan

Even though this set seems a bit expensive, you really get a lot for your money. I was in it for the vinyl, and I already have several pressings of this, so my expectations were high. The pressings were pretty good, but just because something's pressed on 180g vinyl, doesn't mean it's a great sounding pressing. I'd give the press quality an 8/10. My remix LP was pressed slightly crooked. Also, I don't really like the remix. It sounds like they just removed some reverb, and compressed the heck out of it. I much prefer the original mix. I've got the original Netherlands pressing (to my knowledge the only one available in 1991), and the SimplyVinyl pressing. Each has it's own pros/cons, but I'd have to say the SimplyVinyl is best, followed by the Netherlands, and then this. I would still recommend the set though. Quite a lot for your money. Lots of neat keepsakes. Contains several old songs recorded in 1990/91 that until now were not available in any high quality recordings.
