Released by Capitol to fulfuill a previous contract, this 1969 New Year's Eve Concert at the Fillmore-East, recorded by Wally Heider, showcased Hendrix's latest lineup; one that had evolved from Jimi's show-closing set the previous summer at Woodstock. Buddy Miles on drums/vocals and Billy Cox's bass make up two-thirds of the trio, with guitar genius filling in the rest, "Machine Gun", the album's highlight, features some of Hendrix's greatest playing. Rock guitar has never been the same.

The lousiest sounding Hendrix vinyl I have, little life to lows mids and highs, vocals are distant. Was happier with the other recent capitol re-issues I picked up. Its still Hendrix Band of Gypsys. I will try Classic's reissue if returns to stock.
