Analogue Productions' Blue Note and Nat "King" Cole Reissues WIN A Positive Feedback 2010 Brutus Award!
"...if you haven't picked up every one of the Blue Note and Nat King Cole reissues from Chad Kassem and company at Acoustic Sounds, you're really missing out!" - David W. Robinson, Positive Feedback, Issue 52

"…As much as I'd love to relay all kinds of anecdotes about the challenges Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray encounter during the mastering sessions, I witness none. These boys know the sound of the facility and the Van Gelder masters like the backs of their hands…Back home a month later, I unpack some test pressings Chad Kassem has sent me…I hear the most realistic-sounding drums ever reproduced by my system. It's as though I'm sitting at the point of creation, experiencing the same high that brought such gifted musicians together as one. Steve Hoffman, Kevin Gray, Chad Kassem, and Don MacInnis have done Rudy Van Gelder and his Blue Note artists proud." – Jason Victor Serinus, Stereophile, April 2008

Since his days with the Bud Powell Trio, drummer Art Taylor was an invaluable member of the Blue Note recording family. A.T.'s Delight is the only album made under his own name for the label and it is a remarkable one. Choosing great compositions by Coltrane, Monk, Denzil Best and Kenny Dorham, Taylor assembled a great quintet fronted by Dave Burns and Stanley Turrentine, often adding Potato's congas to the proceedings. The unique and varied arrangements and great playing pay tribute to the drummer's exceptional song selection.

Recorded in 1960.

Dave Burns, trumpet
Paul Chambers, bass
Wynton Kelly, piano
Art Taylor, drums
Stanley Turrentine, sax (tenor)
Carlos "Potato" Valdez, conga

No doubt on this one... just amazing sound. If you don't get this you will regret it down the road. Beautiful sound stage and excellent bass and drums... well, its ALL GOOD. Great swinging all around, a true gem.

The best one yet

I subscribe to the Blue Note series and must say, personally, that this is the best one yet. I think the music itself combined with the outstanding remastering makes this one of the very finest albums I own. Spectacular drums and a rarely-heard discipline between the horns make this a real burner. The copy I received, however, has the labels on the wrong sides of the first record. This is of very little concern though as the music and sound are in a class all their own. Having spent some time with the rest of the Blue Note reissues thus far, A.T.'s Delight truly sets itself apart and will most certainly receive more play. Don't be on the fence with this one: Buy it and treasure it.
