This is a rather relaxed recording featuring baritonist Gerry Mulligan and some of his top alumni (trumpeter Art Farmer, trombonist Bob Brookmeyer, guitarist Jim Hall, bassist Bill Crow and drummer Dave Bailey) exploring three of his own songs, Chopin's Prelude in E minor, "In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning" and "Morning of the Carnival (from Black Orpheus). The emphasis is on ballads.

1.   Night Lights (1963 Version)
2.   Morning Of The Carnival From 'Black Orpheus'
3.   Wee Small Hours
4.   Prelude In E Minor
5.   Festive Minor
6.   Tell Me When

I have not heard this Japanese pressing, but I have a Mercury German pressing and it is a superb album. Mulligan at his best, relaxed and mellow, a perfect album for a quiet evening savoring a good Scotch in good company.

Amazing sound and amazing music. You have got to hand it to the Japanese, they produce great vinyl. These days I only buy Japanese pressings and this album is an exceptional one . Mulligan never sounded better and his choice of music for this album is impeccable.
