Not Too Late finally showcases the true vocal talents of Norah Jones, who has been on top of the musical world since her Come Away With Me debut in 2003. That initial release and its follow up, Feels Like Home no doubt alerted the world to the phenomenal abilities of this young singer, but those who'd seen her live reported a command of nuance that never quite came across in her recorded work. Not Too Late, with Jones' vocals more confidently in the front of the mix, is this rising superstar's most solid and fluid record to date.

Mastered by Bernie Grundman directly from the original half-inch analog master tapes and pressed at RTI on Classic's 200-gram vinyl.

Musicians:
Norah Jones - vocals, piano
Lee Alexander - bass
Andrew Borger - drums
Adam Levy - guitars
Daru Oda - background vocals

Quiet Recording; Noisy Pressing

Like another reviewer before me, I had the misfortune of getting one of "those" Classic pressings...noisy, with snaps, clicks, pops, and a strange form of inner-groove distortion that's difficult to describe, but unforgetably annoying to listen through. A beautiful, quietly-recorded album ruined by a sub-par pressing..."classic" Classic. This one will go back! BTW, I have purchased two other Classic reissues, Led Zep III and David & David - both pristine and spectacular, which, of course, only adds to the frustration!

Can't find a good pressing!

This is a fantastic album. But I've purchased three of these and returned two. I'm seriously considering eating the $35 and sending number three directly to Classic so they can hear for themselves: brilliant artist, world-class performances, absolutely superb recording, mixing and mastering, on an LP with surface noise, clicks, pops, and other production defects to the point where you just can't stand to play it. The Classic Records LPs I have purchased (about 15 titles) have been either perfectly or horribly manufactured. I'm 3 for 3 on this one. Is it really that difficult?

(Note: Purchase not from this seller, who is wonderful in any case - just fair warning on Classic's vinyl.)

The Story Teller With The Sensuous Voice

This is the second work of Nora's that I have listened to, and the first that was recorded on LP.

She has that rare ability that separates good artists from great ones, as she uses her smokey and sensuous voice to tell you her stories.

She's so compelling; how can you not listen?

Norah Jones at its best

Undeniably an excellent album coupled with excellent sound quality. Mobile Fidelity should remaster her albums sometime soon. This isn't exactly an easy listening album like "Come Away With Me". Sounds are more matured, very much an acquired taste, and the absence of Arif Mardin is felt. No more catchy tunes like "Come Away With Me", "Don't Know Why" and my personal favourite "Lonestar". Nevertheless a good buy anyway, especially for Norah Jones fans.

I have the previous two N-J albums on CD, but now wish that I had them on vinyl. There is no comparison - more so now that my Linn LP 12 has been upgraded to Vector status by the Funk Firm.

First I have to say this is not as "easy" as Ms. Jones 1st two albums, and that may be a good thing. As good as they were, the 3rd is deeper and pulls you in with repeated listening. A great balance of themes, music and lyrics keep the entire set interesting and compelling. And on top of all this, the sonics on the vinyl LP are outstanding! A true audiophile treat!
