Daniel Lanois is one of Rock’s great renaissance men. He has produced U2’s
biggest albums, including The Joshua Tree and their latest, All That You Can
Leave Behind. He also produced Bob Dylan’s album of the year, the Grammy
winning Time Out Of Mind, Peter Gabriels’ biggest album, So, as well as
landmark albums by Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, The Neville Brothers and
many others. Lanois has a unique guitar style that is both soulful and
rootsy, yet modern. His signature guitar has graced most of his productions.
Lanois has also released a pair of critically-acclaimed solo albums,
including 1989’s Acadie and 1993’s For The Beauty Of Wynona. Shine is his
long-awaited followup, and it is definitely worth the wait. All of the
texture and ambience that he has created for other artists is here in full
force, but front and center this time are his own beautiful songs and
lyrical voice.
