My Favorite SACD

I had to have a copy of Dvorak's New World on SACD, so I decided on this Pentatone release. I couldn't be happier. The recording process really brings out the strong dynamics of the symphony. I view the inclusion of Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture as a welcome bonus, as it is treated with the same respect. The NPO is fantastic and shows off its incredible talent. If I had to choose one thing I didn't like, it would be that Kreizberg's interpretation can be almost too dramatic at times, but he does manage to get the listener involved in the piece, and comes through when it matters.

If you enjoy Dvorak's 9th Symphony (or even if you've never heard it) grab this recording, and grab a SACD player if you haven't yet. This was my first experience with Pentatone's SACD line and I was very impressed. Many album purchases later, I am still impressed. If you're looking for that one great album to hear the difference the SACD format makes, this is it.

Certainly one - if not the one - of the best SACDs I've ever chosen... Kreizberg is a really good conductor, and the recording is outstanding. This is the first time I've heard a symphonic music that can really be convincing in multi-channel audio. Completely natural, a real 3D... and a real precision in all details in the same time.
