180-gram double LP

Half-speed mastered at Abbey Road Studios

The two volumes of Greatest Hits from the legendary band of British hitmakers are being reissued, each as 2LP sets.

Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara on the British colony of Zanzibar, East Africa), guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor, and bassist John Deacon comprised one of the most successful, effective, and productive bands of the rock era — indeed, by some estimates, the most successful rock band of all time (having spent more time atop the U.K. album charts than any other act).

And how did they do this? With: a gay male lead singer who specialized in operatic vocals and classically classed piano playing; an insanely talented lead guitarist who may actually have been more valuable as a songwriter or quasi-orchestral arranger of his instrument; a drummer who not only possessed the highest vocal register in the band (and this is Queen we're talking about), but also arguably the greatest songwriting range; a non-singing bassist who managed to pen one of the greatest karaoke anthems of all time, "Another One Bites the Dust". Like the Beatles, Queen capitalized on major group synergy, and as a result, forged a career that was as varied and resourceful as any act in rock.

Includes: "Another One Bites the Dust," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "Killer Queen," "Fat Bottomed Girls," "Bicycle Race," "Under Pressure," "We Will Rock You," "We Are the Champions," "Flash," "Somebody to Love," "You're My Best Friend," "Don't Stop Me Now," "Seven Seas of Rhye," "Now I'm Here," "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" and "Play the Game."

Great Pressing

Nearly canceled my order after reading some of the negative reviews. I'm glad I didn't! The copy I received is immaculate --no ticks or pops whatsoever. The sound is surprisingly good, on par with some of my Analogue Productions "audiophile" reissues. Great dynamics, thumping bass, clear vocals, detailed stereo imaging. Maybe I won the QC lottery, but this record absolutely sings on my setup.

Very Noisy Pressing - Would Not Recommend

VERY disappointed in this LP. Lots of pops and a lot of surface noise. Not worth it. It's hard to sit and enjoy this one. I'll watch to see if someone else ever presses it but do not buy this one! You are better off buying all of the LPs that lead up to this one - assuming that they are NOT pressed by "Hollywood"

While the music is good, the pressing is noisy with lots of pops and clicks. Some of the tracks sound muddy on the vocals as well. Several tracks are well recorded except for the clicks and pops. Very disappointed.

Half speed disaster

Org version runs all over this. Did they use org tapes as it sounds like the typical digital castration? Absolutely something went wrong with this release or mine at least. Pressing or remaster or both at fault? Walk away from this and put your monies on 2nd hand org.

Great Remaster / Questionable pressing

Abbey Road did a fantastic job remastering this L.P. Hollywood records pressing is questionable at best. Not just random pops & clicks but pressing lumps & pits. I feared for my stylus. I wish Abbey Road had gone to RTI or QRP for the pressing. If you can find a good pressing Queen never sounded better on vinyl.

Queen never sounded so good on vinyl. Bohemian Rhapsody was surreal. Highly recommended.
