Whereas most great live rock albums are about energy, Live at Fillmore East is like a great live jazz session, where the pleasure comes from the musicians' interaction and playing. This set remains the pinnacle of the Allmans and Southern rock at its most elastic, bluesy and jazzy. It has never sounded as true.

Side One
1. Statesboro Blues
2. Done Somebody Wrong
3. Stormy Monday

Side Two
1. You Don't Love Me

Side Three
1. Hot 'Lanta
2. In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed

Side Four
1. Whipping Post

This is supposed to be a great recording. That, it is not. Each side sounds like it had different recording engineers and master mixdowns. Surface noise and pops are prevalent. Some songs have great depth and the band sounds like it is on stage and others there is no sense of atmosphere at all. For some reason Duane's slide work is recorded very strident and Greg's vocals are very forward on some songs and at the back of the stage on others. All over the map on this smorgas-board. Hopefully, other albums sound better than mine did. My listening is on a Music Hall MMF5.1 turntable and Goldring 2200 cartridge with a Bellari VP130 Phono preamp for front end of the system. Going to request a refund on this one.

Another classic album captured by Classic Records. Probably the best this record will ever sound on any format and I've owned them all over the years. The sound quality is full and rich and the beautiful vinyl is packaged in a nice heavy cover with that iconic photo of the band looking back at you. Acoustic Sounds as always sent this to me expertly packed so it arrived in perfect condition.

I'm very happy with this. the sound is bigger, and you have't the sensation that you live this moment ago any years. The Allman Brothers played perhaps the best live of the history. I love this record, the quality is highets.

This is simply a great recording. Small crowd, not a lot of noise from them. The Allman Brothers sound as good live as they do in the studio. In Memory of Elizabeth Reed is especially good on this album. High points are Hot Lanta, Stormy Monday, and Done Somebody Wrong. Southern blues/rock at its finest. I highly recommend this recording. Extremely nice re-issue. A+
